Solvang: Danish capital of United States

     

If you are into windmills and excellent pastry, then this town is a must. Small town, far from the scenes of big metro areas, the atmosphere and architecture are so peculiar that you’ll think to be walking in one of Andersen’s fables. Every corner is a discovery, every store a little gem.

I was there over the 4th July weekend, but missed the local parade, being in Morro Bay instead. So if you happen to go south to Santa Barbara, definitely make a stop here: it’s really worth it.
