Although I had seen this lighthouse in picture I have taken myself, I had never ventured up to find which one it was, and how to reach it. Until two weeks ago, that is.
Point Bonita Lighthouse is located on the North Side of the Golden Gate Bridge, at the very entrance of the Bay, west end of the Bonita Cove.
The lighthouse is in excellent shape, and the bridge that connects to it has been recently restored and so it has reopened to the public.
The amazing views from the lighthouse are matched by the chances of some young bobcat laying in the vicinities. And yes, the view of the Bay on a clear day, must be fantastic.
If you want to go, plan a little, as the lighthouse is not always accessible, nor all days. But it’s well worth for a half-day trip.
